Update on Ethan's Heart Transplant

jill vanvalkenburgh

Back in November the automotive community rallied behind one of our own, Ethan who was going through a challenge, much more intense than any race or struggle most of us have ever known. Seventeen year old longtime friend of the shop, employee, and YouTuber, Ethan recieved a heart transplant right before Thanksgiving 2020. A heart transplant is no small feat but Ethan had many complications and has had to fight through so much to get to where he is today. Ethan is still recovering at the ICU in the hospital in NYC with his mother, and is still has much to overcome to get back to his full capacity but he has come so far and oversome so many challenges with his unmatched perserverance, drive and focus on “kicking ass”. We are so in awe and inspired by Ethan, who had his breathing tube removed earlier this week.

Ethan has always supported the automotive community and now in his time of need we want to give back to him. Ethan has been diagnosed with a heart condition and needs a heart transplant. Ethan and his mother will be moving to NYC this week for the next few months while awaiting a heart, having surgery and recovering. We are asking for your support to help him and his family through this time. Please click the GoFundMe (link below) to donate and read more about his story.

HYPERDRIVE: Behind the Scenes with The Little Speed Shop

HYPERDRIVE: where do we even start?

I guess we’ll go back to the beginning. When the producers contacted us initially we actually thought it was a joke. The first phone call we got was about a noise test ‘in a nearby location’. We were asked if we had some race cars or loud street cars to do a noise test with for a TV show that would be filmed in the area. The catch? it was in December in Rochester, New York. Not a great time for race cars to be driving around and we toyed with the idea of loading a couple cars in the trailer to take, since it wouldn’t be that far, but when the day came the weather was bad and we bailed.

Cars and Coffee Rochester at TLSS January Edition

jill vanvalkenburgh

Check out The Little Speed Shop's Cars and Coffee Rochester January edition. It was epic with cool cars, cool people. A snow storm the night before left us with a lot of snow to do donuts and drift and ghost ride in racecars. Our featured car of the month was a NASCAR Camping World Series truck. The shop was filled with Ferraris, BMWs, Porsches, Audis, and much more. Andrew removed the cylinder head on his turboed BMW e36 M3 and inspected it during the morning to find a blown head gasket. Like and subscribe if you enjoy our videos.
